The Center for Asian Art at the Ringling Museum reimagined 18,000 square feet of gallery space, converting it into a permanent home for the museum’s extensive Asian art collection. The project included 10,400 square feet of renovations and a 9,000-square-foot addition, featuring exhibition galleries, a teaching lab, a lecture theater, study rooms, and specialized storage.
The façade, clad in deep-green glazed terra cotta tiles, echoes the detailing of the museum’s iconic Cà d’Zan mansion. Sweet Sparkman Architecture & Interiors partnered with Boston-based Machado Silvetti to create a design that enhances the museum’s identity while celebrating 5,000 years of Asian art and fostering cultural engagement.
