RESIDENTIAL: Lutz, Florida
The project is a private residence in the lake district of Tampa, Florida. The project is located on a heavily wooded site adjacent to a large lake and protected wetland. The property was originally two separate home sites that were combined to provide adequate land to design a single level 6,000 SF estate, while preserving all the significant trees. The plan is organized to provide optimum views of the lake, gardens, and privacy for the residential wings. Furthermore, the design allows for varied roofs and clerestory elements that create an aesthetic of a village of forms. The palette of materials takes cues from the adjacent cypress stand along the wetland, evident in the custom shiplap cypress siding and structural beams. The roof is a patented anodized stainless-steel shingle that provides a varying array of finishes that range from light champagne hues to dark amber and bronze depending on the time of day. Additionally, the windows are clad in a custom anodized aluminum that complements the roof shingles. The interior is finished in clear maple for the windows and doors, cypress beams and travertine marble floors. The custom designed HVAC system and Icynene insulation were incorporated to meet the owner's stringent demands for a clean air and mold-free forced air system.
