LIBRARIES / CULTURAL: Sarasota, Florida
The North County Library is a 25,000 SF branch library for the Sarasota County Library System. In an effort to attract patrons and encourage a welcoming and friendly environment, the facility is designed with full-height glazed curtain wall systems along the southern façade. During the daytime, patrons can look out upon the adjacent heritage oak trees while at night the facility glows internally and serves as a symbolic community beacon.
Todd Sweet, AIA, LEED AP served as project architect for the North County Library and is responsible for the architectural design. His tasks included programming, organizing focus group discussions, conceptual design and design development. The North County Library has received LEED certification through the United States Green Building Council as a Gold rating.
